Vibbert's Store, Gateway, Oregon

Noah Vibbert ran this store when I was just a little girl. He always painted it yellow with green trim. All of us kids used to love to go sit on the steps and have Noah tell us stories.

When I was small Noah was bald on top with a white hair around his head and we thought he was like Noah from the bible. When I grew up and had kids, Noah was still bald with white hair around the edges.  He was a fascinating man and many of my childhood memories take place around this store.

Noah has since passed on to live with God and his store is almost ready to fall down. Gateway has become a ghost town. The houses are still occupied but the store and post office and railroad depot have long ago lost their glory and stand abandoned and forgotten.
