Fragile areas

People love to hike, ride ATV's, dirt bikes and horses in the BLM sagebrush areas including me but please be aware that fragile growth is in the area and watch where you go. They have made ATV trails for a reason! When your just tear around with your ATV or 4x4's you are tearing up  the new growth of the area such as shown above.  The growth in the upper picture shows up pretty good but the lower left you notice the fungus moss but do you also see the little small growth in the lower left.  The high desert is full of growth and many amazing things, it is not a dead brown and gray area devoid of life.  The animals need this growth and so does the soil.  Without the growth we lose animals and we lose the ground as it becomes exposed and blows away in our high desert winds. I so wish I could find a way to make people care about our natural area. They want to   enjoy it but don't stop and think that the next guy and the future generations also want to enjoy it.  We can use our lands and still take care of them. Our lands are like a house, you can move in and destroy the house where it looks like a dump or you can take care of it and it will last for hundreds of years. There are houses in Europe that are older then our country is.  We must take care of our land, they aren't going to make any more of it.  The same with our water. God made it where a stream will renew and clean itself but not when we throw garbage in it, it can't work that fast. The water works in a cycle, we don't get any new water, once it is polluted it is polluted as we can't make new.

WE have became such a throw away society. We throw away spouses, children, parents, houses, clothes, TV's. Nothing is worth fixing, we just want new. The big problem with this is that you can build a new house, buy new clothes but you can't buy new land or new water. If we don't take care of it, it just will cease to be clean anymore and we will live in a dump with a sewer running through it.

Rules and laws won't fix this as these people don't care about the law, it is already against the law to litter and it has not stopped it. The only way it will be stopped is if you, the people, get involved. I am not asking you to form groups or do anything that will take up your time. Just voice your opinion when you can and watch when you are out driving around and start reporting and taking responsibility to testify and put a stop to this. Be the big brother for the land and the water. Get involved, take back our neighborhoods, take back our land and water. Save it for your kids and grandkids. Don't be an ostrich and hide your head in the sand and pretend you did not see it, PLEASE.
