Sagebrush Springs near Gateway Oregon

Everyone has heard of the Meeks lost wagon train but many do not realize they came to the Gateway area. The camped at Sagebrush Springs and buried 6 of their party here. Many continued on to find The Dalles and perished enroute. They stayed here from Sept 25th to Sept 28th, 1845 according to Samuel Parker's Diary 200 of them camped here.  For many years this was not even marked but this spring was a source of water for the early homesteaders.
