My granddaughter went up to the emergency room because she could not quit throwing up. She had gone out to dinner around 8 pm and woke up at 1 am throwing up and could not stop. Her stomach was really hurting and she thought it was because she had thrown up so much.
She decided she had food poisoning or something and they took her up to the ER. They got up there and she found out she had to have her appendix out.
The doctor that performed the surgery, at Dr. Hughes was amazing. She explained the appendix is of use when you are first born. Every doctor I have ever been too has said they did not know why the appendix was there and it was useless. According to this doctor when you are first born and little it helps get your bowels working right with antibodies and stuff. I don't remember all of it. She says as you get older it starts drying up. If something inflames it, the end kind of closes off and it just gets bigger and bigger until you take it out or it bursts.
They brought photos they took when she was in surgery before it was removed. They were fantastic, you could see it there and see how inflamed and big it had got.
So glad she is doing so well and she went home the next day.
