Danger of fireworks

Fireworks are fun if you use them wisely. They are not fun when you start fires or injure people. A few minutes of fun are not worth someones hand, eye or home and sometimes even a life.  Always think things through when you go to do something instead of living in the moment. When you are careless for a moment you may cause a person a lifetime of pain.  Learning to live without an arm or a hand or an eye is not a fun thing to do and it is for a lifetime.

Losing a home is not a good thing. That is the protection for the world, the place for you to feel safe. You not only lose a place to live but all your photos, your memories on your computer, your childhood keepsakes and sometimes your lives or lives of your family. You might lose your family pets who mean the world to you.  You might just get burned and live in extreme pain and disfigurement.

Is this really worth one loud BOOM???????????????

tow loud BOOMs caused this fire that destroyed a fence and put a motel and several homes in danger. Thank God the firefighters were there so quick or it could have been several homes lost and who knows maybe some lives.

Todd Beamer Memorial run 2013

Every year our small town has a run in memory of Todd Beamer. A local boy who drowned who was an inspiration to all.
Some choose to walk

Some return to their hometown just to run in the race and win.

Some start young

Some get some help from dad

Warm Springs rodeo

I love going to the Warm Springs rodeos. They have several during the year and it does not cost you an arm and leg to get in and food is available on the grounds.  Bring a lawn chair and set right at the fence and see the action up close and personal or set in the stands or if you are early enough you might get to set in your car. Usually you want some kind of shade so set in the grand stands.

For $3.00 you can usually get in and have a great day of old fashioned rodeo.

Started with some young ladies barrel racing

moved on to calf roping

Team roping

The event they are noted for, the wild horse races

bareback riding

Saddle bronc riding

Jr 6 through 12 year old wild colt racing

more wild horse racing

bull riding

Pi Um Sha Rodeo

I love Pi Um Sha (treaty days) in Warm Springs Oregon. I love the dancers, I love the parade and I love the endurance race and the rodeo.  I end up at the rodeo for the day and very seldom get to see the rest of it.  Native Americans come from all over for a great rodeo.  It is an old fashioned rodeo where if you get there early enough you can park right at the fence and set in your car. Grandstands are also available.  Don't be surprised if an animal or cowboy flies over the fence as the stock in the wild horse race is wild not a trained performer.

The winner of the endurance race is Colton David. This young man is amazing and the reason his horse is so wet is that he just crossed the river.  He won last year too.  The race covers some extremely steep and rough country and is a real test of the endurance of horse and rider and also how sure footed your horse is in rough country.  It is so steep in one section we had a young lady go right over her horses head coming down the hill. Ended up being transported by ambulance but she made it.

Everyone was so thankful she was ok as she tumbled end over tea kettle for a long ways.

They have barrel racing.

Junior bull riding

calf roping

Break a way roping

Steer wrestling or bulldogging

Team roping

Wild horse racing

bareback riding

Saddle bronc riding

Jr wild colt racing for 6 through 12 year olds

Sr wild horse races for 13 through 18 year olds

bull riding

There is food on the grounds and cold drinks.  One of the best things is that it does not cost an arm and a leg to get in. Most rodeos at Warm Springs are $3.00 to get in.

Come on down and have the time of your life.
